Le Dîner en Blanc charms Australia

The beautiful weather, the outdoors, the beaches and the bar-b-q love, Australia has the ideal setting for Le Dîner en Blanc. It is no wonder that as of 2012 when Dîner en Blanc International came to be, Sydney and Brisbane were immediately enamored by the concept. This year, the elegant picnic à la française will take place in 8 different cities across the country. Amongst these, some are regulars of Le Dîner en Blanc, while others take their first steps into this great adventure.

First on the calendar: Le Dîner en Blanc – Darwin which will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Capital city of the Northern Territory, Darwin is considered one the most modern and cosmopolitan cities in Australia. Its population is composed of 60 different nationalities and 70 ethnicities! Well-known for its tropical climate, the city has a lot to offer to its inhabitants who appreciate their hometown for its preserved nature and the beautiful sunsets. The multiculturalism shows through the ethnic festivals and craft markets organized in Darwin.  Hosts Marijana Tadic, Anisha Stitfold et Britta Decker are deep in preparation mode to make sure to create a unique experience for all their guests. Considered to be a major touristic destination with its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches and its high-rise dominated skyline, Gold Coast is like an Australian Miami. With a 57-kilometer coastline, Gold Coast is also world-renowned for its iconic surf spots. In love with the concept of Le Dîner en Blanc and their city, hosts Spring Bird, Angela Burnett and George Thie look forward to welcoming their friends and fellow-residents to this very first edition. Third new Australian event of 2017: Le Dîner en Blanc – Fraser Coast! About 250 kilometers North of Brisbane, Fraser Coast, as a city, was created in 2008 to form a merger between the cities of Maryborough and Hervey Bay  as well as the Shires of Woocoo and most of Tiaro. Worth mentioning: it also contains Fraser Island. Heritage-listed, Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, 120 km long. With all the different beautiful settings the area has to offer, deciding where the event will take place could turn out to be tricky for Nikki-Lee Morris, Daniel Sanderson & Liza Young – our devoted hosting team!
